Kalvin Phillips Signs for West Ham in £45m Deal
Manchester City Midfielder Departs for London
31-Cap England International Seeks Fresh Start
West Ham United have announced the signing of midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City for a reported fee of £45 million. The 26-year-old England international has struggled for minutes at the Etihad Stadium since joining from Leeds United in July 2022.
Phillips made just 31 appearances for City across all competitions, with injuries and competition for places restricting his impact on Pep Guardiola's side. However, the midfielder remains a highly rated player and has been capped 31 times by England.
Speaking about his move to West Ham, Phillips expressed his excitement for the new challenge: "I'm delighted to be joining West Ham. I've heard a lot of good things about the club and the manager, David Moyes. I'm looking forward to adding the quality I know I'm capable of to the team and helping West Ham achieve their goals."
Phillips will hope to reignite his career at West Ham, where he will be expected to play a key role in the team's efforts to qualify for Europe next season. The Hammers currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, but Phillips' arrival could prove to be a major boost to their hopes of a strong finish to the campaign.
