Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a massive 98-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 68th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday (May 20).

Chasing a mammoth target of 211, LSG were bowled out for just 112 in 19.5 overs. Only three batters managed to reach double figures, with Deepak Hooda top-scoring with 41. KKR's bowlers were clinical, with Sunil Narine leading the way with figures of 4-21. Andre Russell and Tim Southee also chipped in with two wickets each.

Earlier, KKR posted a challenging total of 210-6 on the board, thanks to a blistering century from Tim David. The Australian all-rounder smashed 10 sixes and three fours in his knock of 103 off just 54 balls. He was well supported by Venkatesh Iyer, who scored 37 off 27 balls at the top of the order.

The win takes KKR to the top of the IPL 2023 standings, while LSG slip down to fifth. With just two matches remaining in the league stage, the race for the playoffs is heating up.
